Archives only show 10 posts per year on DePo Masthead

I just switched to DePo Masthead. I am part of Postaday2011 and I have written a bunch of post this year. How do readers easily get to the various posts, say, at the beginning of the year, if it only shows the 10 most recent that YEAR in the the archives? I am not finding this theme to be easy to search with. Sure they can go month by month and I can show more posts per page but its not very practical.
If I did not make it clear I will try again lol Ok basically if I went to archives it would only show me ten posts that year i have about 50 this year and there is no next page or anything. I know you can go to the differant months but that wont be easy enough for my viewers to quickly get what they want.

This is, in my opinion a flaw in DePo Masthead and you are right, it severely limits navigation. It’s been that way since the very beginning.
I’ll tag this thread to have it moved to the themes forum and perhaps one of the theme team will respond. It needs to be fixed.

However, the yearly Archives don’t display 10 posts, they display as many as you set in Settings > Reading > “Blog pages show at most [n] posts”.

Hi Panos! The problem is though the link at the bottom of the theme’s archive page will not take you back to additional posts from the current year, it takes you to the X number of posts for the previous year. If I have 300 posts in this year, I don’t want to set it to 300 posts. Other themes allow you to page back through the archives and see all posts for a year before moving back into the previous year. The built-in archive page for Depo Masthead does not have that.

Yes yes, Rich, that’s why I wrote “however”! I’m aware of the flaw – I just wanted to point out that “archives only show 10 posts per year” isn’t correct either.

That is true.
I’ve actually complained to staff about this several times, starting right after they introduced the theme and it has never been fixed. For the life of me I cannot understand why a designer would do that as it renders the built-in Archive template nearly useless. DePo is broke on a number of levels.

I knew that and have already set it to a rediculously high 31 posts per page but I have close to 100 posts this year.

Sigh. I have been running DePo for over a year and just discovered this problem. I wonder how many page views I have lost because of this bug. The problem I have with WordPress.com is themes full of bugs and limitations, never corrected or updated. This is why I am looking into another blogging service.
In the mean time, can anybody recommend a WordPress.com theme that is less buggy?
