archiving posts
-
I want to set the amount of posts displayed to a limited number. I have years of archives, that I want to keep, but I want them archived. I want to start over fresh when I put on a new theme and put all new content in with the old accessible, but not visible.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @mysongstosing, would limiting the number of posts per page work for you, or are you hoping to prevent site viewers from accessing older content?

I would love to be able to limit the number of posts per page as well. but I cannot figure out how to do that – maybe my theme is the problem?
As for my old content, I’ve exported it to a new site and want to start fresh (mostly) on my old url. I have YEARS of posts,so i’m looking for bulk moves…and can’t seem to find any.

There are two different options for achieving this.
1. Set a limited number of posts to be displayed in Settings. The instructions are on this page.
2. Use a display post shortcode. This option would give you some more flexibility with what posts are displayed. Check it out.

Have you used the export tool? That will allow you to export all the old posts and import the file on to a new blog, maybe one you keep just to house the old stuff. It will take a while to do it all by hand, but while you work on it the site can be hidden from the public. Once you’re ready to display the new site just edit the privacy settings again.
