Archiving posts

How can I move posts to an archive area? I want to take my old posts off of the current blog roll so that I can start with a fresh writing theme and style however I don’t want to lose the content I already have completely.
I have tried creating a new page called ‘Past Lives’ and created a list using an archive shortcode but it’s not quite what I’m after. I’d prefer the current posts to be moved to this page completely so they are not so obvious.
Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hi there,

We do not really have a way to do as you’re describing. There are a couple of options which might allow you a kind of workaround however.

You could create a separate blog (nicolemadeleinearchive, for example) and you could export all of your current posts to that site. Once you have determined that everything has been successfully moved and is OK, you could delete everything on your current site, allowing you a clean slate.

Alternatively, we have an organizational trick which a lot of people make use of which may work for you. You can link to categories in your menus and in the sidebar. Using the category link, you could make two categories “archive” and “new.” Then older posts, you just categorize as “archive” and your newer posts you similarly categorize as “new.”

Then, on a menu bar, you can create a link to “Blog” (which is to the New category) and “Archived posts” (which is the archive category). Something like that might work?

Here’s some additional info about using category pages:

Let me know if you have any questions!
