Are ads sent to my blog feed?

  I created a site using another “free” theme, but when I was editing the blog for the first time, a pop-up said that my readers may see an advertisement “occasionally”. Is this specific to a particular theme or do these “occasional” ads show up on all free theme sites? Thanks.
