Are blogs accessible if a domain isn't renewed?

    What happens to a blog with a paid domain after the year expires and is not renewed? Will the blog return to the original blog.wordpress.com url? What I really want to know is, if a domain is not renewed, will the blog still be accessible in any way?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    The blog will be accessible with the original address schsinvent.wordpress.com. – but the custom domain will go into the dumper and all the links will be broken, you friends will need to be told about the address change, it will take several weeks for search engines to get used to the changed name (that assumes that you make new Posts with the changed address)

    No content will be lost if the custom domain name expires, but folks will have trouble finding you
