Are blogs really being hacked?

  I found this post..

  I have been getting those ping backs…Should I be worried? I have no idea on how to fix things like this…How can I tell if I have been hacked?

  No, no blogs are being hacked.

  That post refers to a link sent from another site, and Akismet had already said it was spam.
  The goal of a lot of bad sites these days is not to show little blue pills, offer “extensions” and ask for money. What they want to do is get your machine infected with malware which is what that site would do.
  This is no different to following links from other sites – the Miriam-Webster site was compromised in the last few days.

  But here, if Akismet has caught something think carefully before de-spamming it.
  But just getting the pings? Deleting them is the thing to do, there is no other risk.
