Are contact forms possible in a non-hosted site?

  It seems that a contact form would be one of those basic widgets that would be included for non-hosted accounts. Is it possible to set up a contact form for a basic account? If so, where can I find it?

  Ideally I would like users to submit a photo and some text. It doesn’t have to integrate into the CMS at all – I’d just like a very basic email form that send the photo and text to my email address. Is this not possible?

  Help would be greatly appreciated. I’m a complete n00b to this.

  If you mean by “non-Hosted” then yes but not a Widget, you need to learn about Plug-in’s – see below for more info – sorry about the boiler plate but I type slow:

  Thank you panaghiotisadam,

  I used that contact form you pointed out which will have to do for now. I don’t see any way readers would be able to submit an image though which is disappointing, but a basic text contact form should work for now until there is a time when I decide to host it myself and add plugins.

  You could have a field that people would be ask for the url of a picture that you could then fetch and download – more work – but WordPress.COM does not allow people to submit pictures unless they have Posting privileges to a blog as in Contributor, author etc.

  Yes, thanks. That’s what I ended up doing, just giving them a field for a link to their image. Only problem though is that my targeted user base is probably less inclined to know how or have access to a location for their photos that is public facing. But again, it’s a good enough start. Thanks again.

  You could always include a link to Photobucket and/or Flickr.
