Are domains automatically locked after an inquiry?
-
I checked a domain earlier today and it was available; now it’s not. Seems unlikely. Do domains get locked for a while after a query?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

(No, the blog I need help with is not janasnyder.wordpress.com; it’s a new one I’m trying to set up.)

In normal cases a domain should remain available after you do a search to see its status. You should be safe using either http://who.is/ or http://who.wildwestdomains.com/?prog_id=wildwestdomains to look up a domain and see if it’s available.
What is the domain you are interested in registering?

I’m sorry, I thought you meant a custom domain rather than a WordPress.com blog address.
The blog address brentking.wordpress.com is not available to register. The username brentking is taken, and all users have the associated WordPress.com blog address matching their username reserved for them.
