Are Email Links on Password Protected Pages a spammers delight or not?
-
Hello,
I am wanting to put a membership listing on my blog. I have read under the WordPress.com Email link Notes that it is not encouraged to use an email address with a link.
The membership list would be password protected.
Does password protected make the info nonaccessible for the spammers that use scripts to scrape web sites looking for email addresses?
Thanks

Yes, a password protected post would protect that information. It’s displayed as private unless the password is entered to view the page’s content:

If our club members enter their password to view the page, they are not asked to input their password again. Per WordPress, “WordPress will prompt you for the password on your initial visit to a protected post. After entering the password that first time, WordPress will securely store the password with the browser you entered it with so you won’t have to enter it again.“
To further clarify, are the email links on the page more vulnerable to spammers once the password has been entered and is stored with the browser?

No, only the users who entered the password initially will see the page. All others will just see a password field.
