Are email request verifications legit?

    Are email verification requests legit?

    I’m getting emails that ask me to verify my email address from (email visible only to moderators and staff). I’m assuming this is a scam because it doesn’t have the WordPress logo on it. Would you please verify?

    Hi there!

    Thanks for checking with us first! This is a new requirement for buying a domain name, and because it is a recent implementation (a required by ICANN) we’re working on making it look less spammy. Here’s a bit about what the email looks like:

    Register a New Domain

    Please DO RESPOND TO THIS EMAIL.

    All you have to do is click on the “Verify your email address” button. If you already did that, then you are good to go!
