Are emails sent out every time my blog is updated or just when I make posts?

  If someone follows my blog will they be notified every time I update a post or just when I initially make the post? If the answer is every time I make an update, is there any way to prevent this?

  I found this post in the forum: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-not-to-send-emails-when-posts-update?replies=18 but I can’t make heads or tails of it. It seems one person says an email goes out with every update and another says it doesn’t. Any info would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

  An email is only sent when you publish a new Post – Updates don’t generate a new email. Edit all you want

  You can as Admin get an email each time an edit is made but that is a special setting and is not the default. This setting is not available to your subscribers.
