are hyphones allowed in domain names for paid upgrades

  We already have a domain name which is ‘www.walk-tall.org’ however i noticed that you don’t allow the hyphon (-) sign in your free addresses, so I was wondering if you made an exception with the paid upgrade

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  a domain with a hyphen should work just fine.

  Only letters and numbers are allowed in account names on WordPress.com, upgrade or not.

  1tess: I think the issue here is with the domain name, walk-tall.org, which walktallian has already purchased and wants to use with the domain upgrade. That should work, shouldn’t it?

  Firstly thanks for the quick replies.
  secondly, Andrewcpht is right when he says we have already purchased, but not via WordPress. If i can’t use the hyphen on wordpress, would it work if I use a different host and then map the domain to wordpress?? I have no idea how this works.

  Yes, it would work. You can map your domain to your WordPress.com blog. You can also map a subdomain to your blog. In either case it does not matter what the base name of the wp.com site is: your readers will see the domain name.
