Are ISPs blocking WordPress pages AGAIN?
-
Same problem here. I’m on Post Office broadband. No luck trying to access dashboard via laptop.
-
I’m on talktalk and can’t post on my blog via my laptop or my ipad, I have tried via internet explorer, google crome, mercury and safari, it won’t work on any.
there is a serious amount of spam coming into my blog at the moment too way more than usual! -
I’m with talktalk in the UK and use Google Chrome. This is the second time I’ve been stymied like this. I spoke to talktalk and the Internet Watch Foundation last time and did some other research which convinced me that the problem was caused by neither body. I’m massively confused. This time, when the fog clears, I’m not just going to carry on as if nothing happened as before.
-
I too am experiencing this problem and am with Talk Talk.
My livelihood depends on using my wordpress blog, so I’m having to post from a friend’s house, it’s extremely inconvenient. He’s with Virgin so I’m supposing this is an issue with ISP, I’m going to phone Talk Talk tomorrow and if there’s any developments Il’ll post here

I am on talk talk and I cannot update my blog via my laptop. When is this problem going to stop recurring?

@rosestrang
Your username is linked to a deleted blog. You will want to link it to http://rosestrangartworks.wordpress.com/ as your primary domain. To do that see here please > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2007/10/06/link-your-username-to-your-blog/ -
Thanks Timethief I’d love to but can’t access wordpress as yet so will remedy this when the problem is resolved!

@rosestrang
Hi again Rose,
Yes I know that and I just wanted you to know how to do it when you can do it. Sorry I didn’t state that clearly. I wanted Staff to know where your active blog is. -
@stmarysadmin1
Note that your username is not linked to a blog so your may want to post the URL here. -
Thanks timethief :) I know you know and was just expressing my general angst at the situation! My url is http://rosestrangartworks.wordpress.com/
Many thanks for your help!

I’m very sorry to report that we’re hearing that the filtering has hit other ISPs in the UK as well as TalkTalk. We are doing what we can on our end to get the IWF and by extension your ISPs, to unblock WordPress.com. Please note that the actual blocking is beyond our control and all we can do is request that the IWF comply.
I have updated the sticky note here:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/connection-issues-with-talktalk-and-possibly-other-british-isps?replies=2If you are not in the UK and have issues with WordPress.com, please post in a new thread as your issue is likely unrelated to this one.

But why do you apparently win the battle temporarily each time and then it turns out to mean nothing?
We need a permanent solution and it is within WP’s power to make that happen.

Hi
I’m on Talk Talk and having the same problem as everyone else – very intermittent access to my blog. However, I’m only on Talk Talk for another few days then moving to PlusNet around 28th May. I am counting the days! I’m not surprised TalkTalk can’t do wordpress, my experience with them has been pretty awful.

You might want to contact the Internet Watch Foundation via their site with this message (or something politer):
Could you please stop blocking WordPress NOW. This has gone on long enough. WordPress is the world’s largest blogging platform and it is simply unacceptable for one organisation to order ISPs to block it. If you want to block specific sites, please ask them to do that instead.
-
Who are these self-appointed vigilantes anyway and who is regulating them or giving them authority?
-
I am having problems accessing my blog and commenting on several others this morning (and it has been occurring repeatedly over the last few days). I am with Titan Telecom and I am in Scotland.
-
Whether the Internet Watch Foundation is blocking WordPress or not, and I remain to be convinced about this, I agree with davidderrick’s first post. I see the common thread here being WordPress, and believe that the onus is on WordPress to find a lasting solution to this issue.
-
I have spoken to the IWF. I’m sure they mean well and they are only trying to block child pornography. But we can’t call our ISPs — we’ll just be told by someone in Bangalore to restart out computers. The IWF can and WP can.
-
The IWF called me back with an update. They are OK people … there was one and only one WP site where a user had uploaded some illegal material. Obviously WP have taken it down, but for some reason things go wrong with the ISPs in a way that is outside the IWF’s control. But they are talking to them!
