Are posts split up into separate pages automatically with certain themes?

  • Unknown's avatar

I am concerned about this. I want my posts to be all together, that is, not split up into pages that my readers have to flip through to read. Some of the demos show posts that are split up and you have to flip through them. Is this done automatically with these themes, or can I choose to have the post just one long post?

I notice that I can choose to excerpt the post, but I see no flip-through page option, so I was concerned.

Sorry to be repetitive–I just want to be totally clear here and not mix up “pages” with “pages.” Get my drift?

    Have a nice day.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes, some themes split posts automatically, but most don’t. You can always preview a theme to see what your blog looks like with it.

Can I preview a premium theme?

  • Unknown's avatar

I’ve tried to look for that option, and all I see is “purchase.”

No I’m sorry I do not get what you mean and the site linked to your wordpress.COM username is not a free hosted wordpress.COM blog. Those are the only blogs we provide support for here. So if you are asking about that site then you are posting to the wrong support forum and ought to be posting to this one > http://wordpress.ORG/support/

If you are asking about another blog and it is a free blog being free hosted by wordpress.COM please read what follows. Abnd please replace that site link to your username with a link to your wordpress.COM blog.

Here’s how to link your username to your blog in your blog Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Website‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes.

Now every time you sign into the forum we can all click on your username and your blog will be linked to it and we Volunteers won’t be wasting our time clicking into a site that has nothing to do with the questions you post.

Hemingway has that feature coded into the template and that the way the theme works. Only the Fusion and Inuit Types have the feature whereby they can be set to present beginnings of posts on the front page. In other themes full posts are displayed and if we don’t want that then we have to insert “the more tag” to split text. http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

I DO have a wordpress.COM site. WordPress.com offers premium themes to my knowledge. They advertise them all the time on my dashboard. So I am asking about the premium themes offered by WordPress.COM. I am curious about them.

    @juliemadblogger
What happened here was that I was typing when you posted above. You failed to provide a link to a wordpress.com blog and the fact your username is linked to another site led me off track.

We Volunteers have zero personal knowledge of the features of Premium Themes. All we know is what’s stated here > http://theme.wordpress.com/ I have no idea if the Preview function works on those themes because I have never tried it.

When you purchase a premium theme you get a link to the Premium Themes Forum and the theme designer answers all theme related questions and provides all theme related support there.

I don’t understand why clicking on my username is getting to my other site, but my .com site is according to the juliemadblogger site. I don’t know why my other site is coming up.

  • Unknown's avatar

Not to worry you can change the username link easily by using the instructions I posted above. :) I’m sorry we cannot answer questions about premium themes — we have no knowledge of them. :(

  • Unknown's avatar

Wow, thanks so much. You’ve been very, very helpful. So I have to pay for the theme and actually activate it before reaching this forum, correct?

  • Unknown's avatar

I can’t say for sure maybe you ought to ask Staff before you pay. I would > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

  • Unknown's avatar

    Thanks! Have a nice day!

  • Unknown's avatar

I said that in an awkward way. Yes, after you purchase a Premium theme a link to the Premium Themes Forum does appear here > Appearance > Themes
I would not pay before I could “preview” but that’s just me.

  • Unknown's avatar

I hope you have a nice day too, Julie. :)

  • Unknown's avatar

Well, I’ve tried out all of them, don’t particularly like them, anyway. I’ll stick with the free ones!
