Are search engines penalizing me because I have two of the same blogs?

  The other day, I exported my content from datingadvicealmostdaily.wordpress.com to a site I am self-hosting under the name datingadvicealmostdaily.com. I have directed WordPress to redirect traffic to the new site. Now, I would like to delete content from the old site because my stats have plummeted and I fear the search engines are penalizing me for having the same content on both sites. Please help. Thank you. :-)

  Hi Terry,

  If you want to permanently delete your site, follow the guide below:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/delete-site/

  Please read the warnings and advice before deleting a site, as we can’t revert a site deletion for any reason.

  If you’re going to delete your WordPress.com site, please let me know. I will refund your recent payment for the Site Redirect upgrade as it will no longer be effective (since your WordPress.com site will not exist).

  Let me know how you would like to move forward!

  Thanks for getting back to me, Jeremy. Since the other site is active, I guess the best thing to do is delete the other wordpress.com site.

  Question: Will this eliminate my wordpress.com account? I have jetpack on the wordpress.org site connected to it.

  Hey Terry,

  No – this won’t delete your WordPress.com account. In fact, WordPress.com accounts cannot be deleted. Your Jetpack connection should be safe even if you delete your blog though!

  I will delete the content of the wordpress.com blog. In the meantime, would you please refund the $13 I paid for the site re-direct?

  Hi Terry,

  I have fully refunded the $13 charge. Please allow several days for the funds to become available on your account. I also removed the Space Upgrade from your blog as it will not be useful if you’re going to delete the WordPress.com blog.
