Are stats available on clicks on links in a Category widget?

Greetings! Is there any way I can see the number of clicks I get on the links in the Category widget? I can see from my Stats how many visitors viewed pages by category (which I imagine is just an attribute of the specific posts viewed) but not — as far as I can tell — the number of visitors who clicked on a specific category. I ask because I’d like to know how useful this “Category” widget really is for my visitors and readers. If my readers aren’t clicking on the links provided in the Categories, maybe I don’t need to provide them in the first place.
Sorry if this has been answered already. I really did search Support before posting this.

Good question. I’ll tag this thread for a Staff response because I do not have an answer. Currently we do not support pulling stats for clicks in the Category widget. However, that is interesting, and something that might be a good feature to add. Considering the specific nature of the request, can you please repost this in the Idea Forums:

If it gains traction and it’s something a lot of our users want, we will definitely look into adding it.
However, from looking at your site I think the Categories widget is a smart idea. At first glance its hard to find the subjects you are writing about, so the Categories really help.
