Are subscribers notified of edits?
-
I am a perfectionist and often edit previous posts. I just got a subscriber to my newish blog and am worried that she will be bombarded with notification emails if I keep editing my posts! It’s partly a “how-to” blog and when I get more of them up I know I will be editing even more, and I hope adding videos and pics etc to keep improving them.
One of my “comments” was a long notated list detailing the items in my header pic–my one subscriber had requested this. Does she (as a comment subscriber) get a notification every time I edit this “comment” ? I have done that several times already, since I originally typed up the list off the top of my head without checking all the historical references etc.
Thanks! The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I don’t believe anyone is notified when a comment is edited. And staff have said that RSS notifications don’t go out when an old post is edited. Email notifications might, however; the workaround is to take the post Private, edit it, update it, then take it Public again.

Subscribe to your own site via e-mail then you will see exactly what your subscriber sees.
I also think only one e-mail goes out per Post. It would make no sense to send out edits, change one word and carpet bomb your subscriber list would eliminate most subscribers in short order.

thought about the same thing a few days ago because i published an article ad for some reason the comments were turned off. I couldn’t figure out what I had done wrong, spent hours exploring different links on the dashboard and i still haven’t figured it out. i ended up deleting the post and republished, this time it came with the comments on. i was worried my subsscribers would find it a bit strange receiving 2 emails on the exact same post….anyone knows what i should have done about the comments problem? I put a question on the forum but didn’t get any answers …..www.livingitlight.wordpress.com

@livingitlight: When you edit the post, there is an option to enable comments, but there is also an option under Settings> Discussion to disable comments on new posts. Perhaps this article will help.

I’m back again to report that I did subscribe to my blog (as an email subscriber) and only the initial publishing of the post comes as an email notification, not any edits. I assume the same thing is true for comments.
Thanks again…
