are tags automatic?

  do I have to create all my own tags/catagories? or is there some way for them to be automated? thank you

  tags are personalized. each blog/blogger creates the ones he/she wants. even thoug they will be connected to all the tags created around wordpress.com

  for example, if you create the tag “news”, anyone browsing through that tag on wordpress will find your posts catalogued on that tag.

  but you can have a default tag, with all your posts being automatically catalogued on that tag.

  At wordpress.com Categories and Tags are the same thing. Technorati spiders pick up all categories without any difficulties.

  You can also use the Technorti tagging built into BlogDesk as well as Windows Live writer. And Keotags has a tag generator. http://www.keotag.com/tagger.php

  I have used all of them and abandoned bothering using any because Technorati picks up the categories I assign.
