Are the new sidebar ads permanent?

  I looked at my blog today as I was thinking about designing a new background, and was very surprises to see two very large, scrolling ads on either side. In fact, they’re on this page too, scrolling away. I understand the need for ads to pay the bills, but these are incredibly distracting from the content of the page. If I had clicked on someone else’s blog and seen this type of ad, I would think they were doing anything possible to monetize their blog, and click right off of that page. I have just been getting serious about blogging and beginning to promote my blog; and now I’m really embarrassed to direct people here. Is this a permanent change? I know that I’ve just started and my presence or absence isn’t of much consequence to WordPress, but I came here because it seemed classier than BlogSpot. It definitely doesn’t seem that way today.

  I know I could purchase the no ads option, and I’ve considered it, but want to establish my blog more first before I spend money on it. I’m reconsidering if I want to establish myself here now.

  WordPress.COM ads all have a link just above them “About These Ads” and you go to a WordPress.COM page –

  You might have an infected browser – try turning off all the extensions / add in’s and see if the ads go away – if so enable them one at a time

  Or take a screen shot of the ads and post a link to where the picture is for someone to look at it
