Are the words I enter in the Image Description field searchable?

    I see that an image’s Description field is for: “Full image description or other information to accompany the image on its attachment page.”

    Can someone tell me if the words I enter in this field are searchable using Google or by using the WP search box from the search widget?

    It’s just that you can’t add any descriptors to images to aid retrieval, other than a good file name, alt text, and caption. If you rely on the words on the same web page as your image, you can end up with false associations.

    As an experiment I have added some words to this field for one of my images, but will have to wait for a Google crawl to find out, and that could be some time yet.
