Are theme-defined additional CSS classes disabled on the Free version?

    Hi

!I’m using the Barnsbury theme and trying to make a tag cloud work. The style I want to display is the “Outline” style, as opposed to the “Default” style. When I click the Block Styles: Outline button, I see that an additional class is added to the block: “is-style-outline”. The tag cloud’s appearance then changes correctly in the Customize view. However, in the actual website, the tag cloud stays in the Default style. Is this because I’m using the free version and the CSS class is not being applied outside of the customizer?

    Thanks!

  • Hi there,

No, if the setting is available in the editor, that setting should be applied to your site regardless of your plan.

It doesn’t look like the tag cloud widget is active on your site at the moment. Can you please add that and publish the changes so we can take a look at what’s going on?

    Thanks for your response, kokkieh!

I see, that’s strange then, but you’re right, I checked and the class does show up in the browser inspector. The tag cloud widget is active on the second block of the homepage, to the right of the “Conoce las compañías:” copy (“Optimizacion” is one of the tags).

As you can see, the tags are displayed as simple text (default style), as opposed to larger, button-like blocks (block style). This only happens in the preview, because when in the Block editor, the tags do use the block style. I found it interesting that both styles appear with the original color of the theme (green) in the Block editor, whereas in the actual site, the tags look red (always in the default style of course).

I spotted another inconsistency in the last block (text on picture). In the block editor, the text looks white, the way it should be. In the site, the text looks black. I haven’t changed any colors beyond the main color palette.

  • Hi @sanlatgil, thanks for sharing this feedback. It looks like both the color and display issues might be a bug with the tag cloud block, so we’ll work on getting that sorted.

Hi! I was wondering if there were any updates on this? We’re on the verge of upgrading to a paid account but are unsure if this type of issues are normally solved. I just realized it happens in other themes too.

    Thank you!!

  • Hi there!

Thanks for checking in. It appears that our devs were looking into this issue as as of a few weeks ago. So, it is an issue that is actively being worked on, but I cannot give you a definitive time as to when a fix will be implemented.

However, we’ll be sure to reach out once an update does happen. Thanks again!
