Are themes copyrighted?

  Are themes copyrighted? Do you have to attribute themes to their creators? I work for a nonprofit (not the website attached to this question), and I would like to know if I can use a theme without attributing the author, and if I can freely use it without copyright protections.

  Please let me know. Thanks! P.S. (any legal terms or codes, please explain!)

  Hi @jphern4, that depends on the theme, as authors can choose the license they like. If you don’t see license information in the style.css file, check with the theme author. Also, you may want to ask whether images and other theme components follow the same license. I hope that helps.
