Are there ads with domain mapping?
-
I just today found that there are ads on my blog, and I don’t like that. If I pay the $17 for domain mapping, does that remove the ads?
Thanks

No – you will need the No Ads Upgrade ( $ 30– / year) to remove the ads. Each upgrade is targeted and narrow in scope. (other than the Pro bundle which puts several upgrades together for a discount)

Yes, I just found out about the ads. Guess I won’t be using wordpress as my main blog anymore.

@khendersonart – just who or how do you expect to pay for your “free” blog? The server costs and such need to be paid somehow – maybe you expect Santa Claus just to give you a “free” blog because you need one?

Blogger has a sugar daddy that give them a BMW, a private jet, and unlimited credit cards. The sugar daddy is Google. The cost for running blogger, to Google, isn’t even pocket change.
WordPress does not have a sugar daddy. They have to pay their own way.

WordPress and Blogger are substantially different offerings. When using blogger, you’re giving up more privacy than at WordPress, as well as security. But you don’t have ads. It’s all a tradeoff.

Blogger does give you a bonus though for starting a blog there: they spot you over 100 XHTML errors before you even publish your first post, just to get you on your way. It used to be over 350, but due to the bad economy, they had to cut back.
