Are there any real people to talk to at WordPress?
-
I have been hacked and all of my content stolen. Do you care?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Of course we are all real people! There isn’t a cell phone addicted zombie nomophobiac among us.
I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.
Go to your email program and change the password to a very difficult one because that’s how many hackers gain access to blogs
Read > http://en.support.wordpress.com/security/1. If you can log-in go here > Users > All Users and delete any user that does not belong there.
2. Disable post by email > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-email/
3. Disable post by voice > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-voice/
4. Change your blog password to a very difficult one > http://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/#change-your-password
You can also reset your password via your Settings tab on the WordPress.com home page:
http://wordpress.com/#!/settings/5. Use a secure, encrypted connection to connect to your Dashboard. Under Users → Personal Settings, check the box that says “Always use HTTPS when visiting administration pages, and click Save Changes.
6. To add another layer of home security, you can now enable Two Step Authentication, also known as Two-Factor Authentication http://en.support.wordpress.com/security/two-step-authentication/

Your username is linked to blog that hasn’t been updated with new contact since September 10, 2009
http://buckjacobs.wordpress.com/That begs the question: Exactly what is the URL for the blog in question ie. the one you claim is hacked in the form of an active link starting with http:// ?
-
In the vent that you are referring to http://www.buckjacobs.com/ it’s not hosted by WordPress.COM. Therefore, you need to post to the WordPress.ORG support forum for help with your site.
WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and have different logins http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

http://www.buckjacobs.com/ – is really messed up – probably not a hack
However
The site you are asking about does not seem to be hosted on WordPress.COM so you need to make friends over at WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using.
This site is for support of sites hosted on WordPress.COM. You should address your questions to WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using: http://wordpress.org/support/
The forum at WordPress.ORG is not connected to WordPress.COM so you will need to open an account at .ORG if you do not already have one. You may use the same email at WordPress.ORG as you do at WordPress.COM.

I am not web savvy and the site was set up for me by a consultant. The web address was http://www.buckjacobs.com or www,buckjacobs.wordpress.com. I had a saved “favorite” entry to my dashboard. I created and posted blog entries for almost 5 years until July this year with no problems except I had spam comments galore. On my site on July 24th a new entry is posted “Hello World”. I did not do that. At the same time all previous posts disappeared and the site http://www.buckjacobs.com turned into a fatal error message. If that doesn’t look like a hack then I don’t know what to call it.

It’s also called you are in the wrong forum to get help – you need to make friends over at WordPress.ORG and learn all about being a web master & systems Admin –
-
-
your software works different than ours here – there is nothing we can do to help you – other than what @TT & I have done which is refer you to a place you can get help at –
This is for support of blogs that are hosted on WordPress.COM only
You are more than welcome to the very accurate and fast help that you have received

OK, explain to me; when I go to http://www.Wordpress.COM and enter my user name and password I go directly to my dashboard. I have never heard of WordPress.org until today and never used a different point of entry. Please excuse my frustration but the only faces I have had are WordPress.com and buckjacobs.com.

buckjacobs.com is hosted by CyrusOne

WordPress.ORG is the keeper of the free software you have been using for the last 5 years or so – many people have used the software for years and don’t know where the software is from – then add that most hosts offer a “one button five minute install” and things get even more confusing – we use a different version of the software here and the staff take care of issues for us that you now have with your blog
-
Thank you, I didn’t have any idea that I wasn’t connecting to .com or that I was using free software. I appreciate your help and am just bummed to have lost 5 years of content. I’ll let it go. Have a better day!
-
Make friends at WordPress.ORG – they see problems like yours every day
Also ask your host if they have any backup tapes, many hosts have some sort of backup system in case their main servers crash for some reason – the sooner you check with your host the better the chance you have of recovering your lost work
Also Google’s search has a cache feature that can be used to recover content many times
