Are there such a thing as "Spam Views"?

    I had a weird incident a while back where suddenly my blog got hammered by a rash of views all directed by search engine results to one specific post. The amount of views of that single post was well in excess of three to four times the usual traffic recorded to the entire blog in one day.

    Although at the time it was looked into and dismissed as a harmless fluke, it’s happening again. This time… on two separate days this week… I’ve had the same thing happen. The only way to put the brakes on it was to edit the posts in question to “private” for a while to wait out the “attack”.

    Today… the views of the post in question seems to all be coming from one single country, the Philippines, and although setting the post to “Private” has again stopped the activity, I’m wondering…. since it’s happened twice now in a couple of days…. is there some new “Spam Views” problem rearing it’s ugly head, and why? What would this activity possibly accomplish for anybody?

    Just scratching my head and wondering about it…. Anyone else experiencing this? Forum searches seem to suggest they are….any insights on what’s up would be appreciated.
