Are they ever going to make this possible?

    I’ve searched and read old topics about being able to add multiple pictures into a post, but it seems like wordpress has never fixed this and added the ability?

    I know you can upload more than one picture at a time, and I know you can insert a gallery. I’m not talking about either of those two things. I’m talking about inserting multiple pictures at one time.

    Why hasn’t wordpress added this feature?

    We can place multiple images in our free hosted WordPress.com blogs but we cannot help you without you posting and active link starting with http:// to the blog in question so please do that now.

    There are sites here with literally dozens of image in a single (which is actually a bad idea as it makes for very slow loading posts and the search engines can whack your search engine rating for having a slow loading site).

    timethief – this isn’t a question about my particular blog. It’s a question about wordpress in general. Thanks.

    the sacredpath – I don’t understand what you mean. Are you just suggesting I don’t post pictures on my blog?

    No, I’m just saying that you don’t want to put too many images into a post, and if you use lots of images, you need to limit the number of posts that show per page (settings > reading) so that you keep your site loading quickly and don’t possibly make the search engines cranky.

    You also have to make sure that you optimize your images for the web and in general I recommend keeping the file sizes under 75k and under 50k is actually even better.

    The other thing to keep in mind is that a good number of people here in the US and around the world are still on slower internet connections (1Mbps or less) and most are reluctant to wait for minutes for a site to load. Slow loading sites will drive people away.

    As far as the number of images you can put into a post, that is virtually unlimited (except by practicality). About two years ago someone posted in the forums about having a slow loading site and when I went to look at the site, I counted 140 images (not optimized) in a single post.

    There is also the “gallery” option for inserting larger numbers of images. You can choose the size image you want to display when inserting the gallery (thumbnail, medium or full-sized).

    There are other options as well depending on where your site is located, but you seem reluctant to give us a link so all we can really do is respond in a general way.

    One last thing. There are two types of wordpress sites. Those hosted here, and those that are self-hosted at third-party hosting services using the software from wordpress.ORG. There are some major differences between what is possible on the two of them. Self-hosted sites have far greater options.

    @kgnld
    I’m so sorry but to us “general” means “vague” and vague means we cannot provide specific answers. I asked for the URL for the blog in question so
    (1) we could confirm whether or not the blog is free hosted by WordPress.COM Every day we get people here who actually have WordPress.ORGinstalls which run on different software so the answers are not necessarily the same,
    and (2) to ascertain exactly which theme you are using.

    1. Which theme are you using?
    Are you using the Monotone or Duotone photoblogging themes? They allow only for one image in a post. The over 120 themes do allow for multiple image posting.

    2. Which browser and version of it are you using?

    3. Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies?
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

    4. If you browser is outdated then update it here > http://browsehappy.com
    5. Have you read this entry? http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/troubleshooting-images/

    6. Is your Flash up to to date? Check here . http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ Update here > http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/

    7. How do you connect to the internet and WordPress.com?

    8. What is your operating system and have you had any recent updates to it?

    9. Which security program are you using and has it had any recent updates to it?

    10. Are the images in question on your own computer, on an image hosting site, in your Media Library or elsewhere? Are you “hotlinking”?

    11. Are you following these instructions? http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/

    12. Please describe clearly exactly what happens when you try to upload more than a single image into a post.

    @TSP
    It’s a private blog located here > http://kgnld.wordpress.com/ and it is free hosted by WordPress.com

    @kgnld
    We cannot see the contents in a “private” blog. What we can see is the login box and the “Eordpress.COM” or the WordPress.ORG” that’s there. For us that’s the starting point of answering questions.

    edit: “Eordpress.COM” was meant to be “WordPress.COM”
