Are WordPress.com sites hacker protected?

  Hello –

  My self-hosted site keeps getting hacked and the recommendations from the hosting service are getting beyond my skills. They suggest things like changing all the database prefixes and the locations of all the default directories. I can work through that, but I wanted to know if getting a WordPress.com hosted site comes with security settings in place. It’s a simple site that uses a twentysixteen-child theme with some custom CSS.
