"Are you sure you want to do this?" and other unusual error messages
-
I’m trying to make a private blog public. When I submit the change (under Settings/Privacy) I am redirected to a blank page that reads “Are you sure you want to do this? Try again.” The words “Try again” link back to my dashboard, and the privacy change is not saved. A few moments ago, when I hit “Submit” on a post, I was directed to a page that said something to the effect of “do not use the back button, Wait a few minutes then refresh this page.” Can anyone advise?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m having the same problem — when I change the privacy setting, I get a “failure notice” tab with a message that says “are you sure you want to do this?” and “try again.”

I’m getting the same issue I’m afraid. I’m trying to make a blog public and I just get redirected to a blank white page with “Are you sure you want to do this?” on it and a try again link which takes me back to the dashboard.

Your blog is marked “private” and I did a test by clicking the link. Do not approve my request. I wanted to make sure it was working is all. Please contact Staff directly. -

Please post an active link starting with http:// to the blog in question. The site linked to your WordPress.com username is NOT a free hosted WordPress.com blog and we cannot help with it. -

Have tried the options as listed in the Staff Questions section you linked and they did nothing. Will have to contact support directly.

- You could have a browser issue so try changing your browser settings, refreshing the page, or clearing the browser cache and cookies – instructions for specific browsers.
- Note that when you make adjustments to your browser settings — changing privacy settings, deleting cookies or increasing security — you will need to close your window and restart the browser before those new settings become effective.
- You could try upgrading your browser. http://browsehappy.com
- You could try using another browser.
- You can use this link to see if your flash is up to date.
- If it’s not up to date then this is where to download and install the latest version of flash.

Timethief – I have tried all of the above. My browser, Flash and OS are up to date, I’ve cleared the cache and browser settings should be just fine. Have tried on Firefox and IE and both display the exact same screen. Issue really seems to be on WordPress’s side of things unfortunately.

Tried clearing cache/cookies, restarting browser, same problem. I’m using Firefox 4.0 on Win 7 (32 bit), although I get the same issue with Explorer 8. Will wait to hear from Support.
