Area under new 2011 theme header is not white

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi

I started my blog http://www.lecturesbyyogibhajan.com last month and I just switched it to 2011 this week… However, the background area where the posts are supposed to display will not show as white – it shows whatever the background color is for the site.

Only the first 1/4 inch or so below the header shows as white – yet, looking at the demos, it’s obvious the white should extend through the whole post area.

I’m going to assume I have an extra div tag in my HTML which is not closed somewhere – and I want to be empowered to find it on my own … Without going through every post on the site, how would I find this? What tool or system would you use to locate this?

Or, if you know what I did wrong, please let me know… Thanks!

    F

You can use your browser and “view source code”. How do I view the source code of a web page? > http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000746.htm

well, certainly, I can do that… I’m actually pretty familiar with browsers and CSS… but I guess the question is… How do I find a particular tag which is not completed and is messing up the overall code?

There is no shortcut. You search through it all and find the problem tag.

    Thanks TT… Found it. :)

This is caused by copying and pasting and your know which posts and/or pages you copied and pasted into so what I would do is start with the most recent one and work backwards.

Settings > Writing and select “ ___ WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and then scroll down and click “Save Changes.”

Starting with your latest post, open it in the editor, make one minor change such as adding a space and then deleting it, and then click “Update Post.” Check blog and see if it is back to normal.

If it’s not, then look for an open HTML tag and close it. Check your blog again and see if it is back to normal. If it’s still “messed up” then open the next post and do the same thing post by post until it goes back to normal.
