Argent Theme 'HOME' appearance / PORTFOLIO tab
-
Good afternoon,
I’m on a free plan for my OUT IN THE SKY blog (www.weareoutinthesky.wordpress.com) and I’m using the Argent Theme.
MY ISSUE:
I want my ‘HOME’/INICIO tab to be the static front page of my web with the photos of my portfolio in the grid template that comes with the theme + I want to use HOME/INICIO as if it was the same PORTFOLIO tab without adding a portfolio tab.ALSO
1. Whenever you type the address of my blog for the first time and enter you see the HOME/INICIO static front page with my portfolio entries but it has a ‘Recent projects’ title that I cannot get rid of and I want to get rid of that.
2. Once you are reading through my blog and you want to go back to HOME/INICIO tab to see my portfolio entries and click on the tab it showcases my portfolio entries but with another title called ‘Proyectos’. I don’t know why I have two different titles: ‘Recent projects’ and ‘Proyectos’ and I don’t want any of these two titles to appear.
> NOTE: I did notice that when I created the HOME/INICIO page, it is linked with http://www.weareoutinthesky.com/portfolio-2 so maybe that’s why it has two different titles but where can I change the name of the titles and why is it that one appears automatically in English while the other one is in Spanish?. Anytime I try to change the link to http://www.weareoutinthesky.com/portfolio it automatically changes to portfolio-2.
Is there any way I can fix this using my current free plan or is any other alternative solution I can have taking into consideration my plan?
Thank you for your help in advance,

Hi,
MY ISSUE:
I want my ‘HOME’/INICIO tab to be the static front page of my web with the photos of my portfolio in the grid template that comes with the theme + I want to use HOME/INICIO as if it was the same PORTFOLIO tab without adding a portfolio tab.The Portfolio content type is not a static page, and therefore it can not be your static front page. If you create a new page titled “Portfolio,” it’s slug will be “portfolio-2” by default, because the URL https://weareoutinthesky.wordpress.com/portfolio/ exists by default, even though there is not static page with the slug “portfolio.” This explains why your static front page has the slug “portfolio-2” as your note indicates.
1. Whenever you type the address of my blog for the first time and enter you see the HOME/INICIO static front page with my portfolio entries but it has a ‘Recent projects’ title that I cannot get rid of and I want to get rid of that.
With the Argent theme activated, you may choose to display a selected number of projects on a page with the Front Page Template assigned. The settings that allow or disallow this feature, and how many projects are displayed if allowed, are at Customize > Theme Options > Front Page Portfolio section settings. You may choose not to display any projects on the page. However, as mentioned above, to display your portfolio instead as the front page is not an option because the portfolio is not a static page.
It is odd that one would appear in English and one in Spanish. The “Recent projects” title will be removed if you choose to display no projects on a page, whether it’s the static front page or not, with the Front Page Template assigned. To remove the “Proyectos” title would probably require CSS customization. You may add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar of this topic to call for staff attention if you’d like to ask staff about how to remove that title, or about why the two titles are in different languages.
Is there any way I can fix this using my current free plan or is any other alternative solution I can have taking into consideration my plan?
No upgrade would allow you to place the portfolio itself on the front page, though you may display 3, 6, or 9 projects on a static front page with the Front Page Template assigned.
Removing the “Proyectos” title from the portfolio might be possible with CSS customization. This would require that you have Custom Design, which is available with the Premium and Business Plan upgrades.

@ Cristel,
Please feel free to ask if you have any questions regarding my responses in the post above, or any other questions.

@ Cristel,
A couple of other options:
1. You may use portfolio shortcode inserted in a static page, which might be assigned as the static front page, to display your portfolio. See the Portfolio Shortcode support page.
2. See the Portfolio Themes section of Portfolios support page. It includes the following list of themes each of which offers the option of a specially designed page template to display your portfolio.

For any theme that has the option of a Portfolio Page Template, the template may be assigned to a page set as the static front page.
