Argent theme-images not overhanging margins
-
Hi! The description of the Argent theme says that images wider than 780px will overhang the column width. This isn’t happening on my site. (see https://suzanne-gray.com/portfolio/building-healthy-habits/) I tried changing the image size from “large” to “full size” but that doesn’t seem to help. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks!!

Hi! This seems to be a bug, so I’ve filed a report with our theme team. I think for now if you want to just go ahead and add full-sized images, that will be okay. Or, you could switch to a theme that lets you specify wide-width blocks. Most of the newer block themes do allow that. Let us know if you need help with that.

Thanks! A couple questions:
I think for now if you want to just go ahead and add full-sized images, that will be okay.
— is there a way to do this in Argent? When I specify “full size” nothing happens.
Or, you could switch to a theme that lets you specify wide-width blocks.
–Do you (or anyone) have suggestions for other themes that use the portfolio feature and have wide-width blocks? Or, how I can search for this? I tried filtering by features but “wide-width” didn’t seem to be an option.
I really like Argent’s layout in general, I just need this feature to work.
Thanks for your help!

Hi there,
is there a way to do this in Argent? When I specify “full size” nothing happens.
You can instead add your image using the “Classic Block” which is a block that containes the classic editor controls, including the ability to add an image. This is equivalent to adding an image “the old way” which the theme correctly recognizes.
You can see in the video I shot at this link where I add an image via the Classic block: https://d.pr/v/eqqcQ7
You can see in the video that the image added in this way is wider than the text columns above and below.
Do you (or anyone) have suggestions for other themes that use the portfolio feature and have wide-width blocks?
Generally speaking, when you visit this page, the themes you see initially (the recommended ones) are 100% compatible with the new blocks editor. It’s themes found under “Show all themes” button are older themes, they’re all block-compatible, but usually do not have support for wide width settings, due to how the themes are constructed.
All our block themes however are compatible with portfolios. All you need to do is create a new page, and use the Shortcode Block and this code:
[portfolio]This will cause the page to be filled with all your current projects, and the code is customizable to change the output of the page: https://wordpress.com/support/portfolios/portfolio-shortcode/
The shortcode can add portfolio support to any theme that does not already have built in portfolio support, so it makes any theme a ‘portfolio theme’ so to speak.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
