Argent Theme not displaying portfolio section on front page
-
I’m having issues making the Argent Theme display a few pieces of my portfolio on the front page. Enabling and disabling the option doesn’t make any difference to the homepage. The steps I’ve already done are:
– Make a static front page and set it to Home
– Add portfolio items through WP Admin > Portfolio
– Enable the Portfolio Section tickbox in the Menu > Theme options
– Disable and enable the portfolio projects in Settings > Writing.Anyone got any idea what I might be doing wrong?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
Thanks for telling us what you’ve tried so far! Could you tell us a little more about what is going on? Are you trying to display more items than just the three and they are just not showing up, etc.?
You are probably already working through these directions for the portfolio:
Portfolio Section The Front Page Template can include recent projects from your portfolio if you choose to display them: Head to Customize → Theme Options → Front: Portfolio Section. Check “Show Portfolio Section.” By default, this section displays three recent portfolio projects. You can choose to display three, six, or nine projects with the Number of Projects to display option. By default, this section displays the title “Work” above the projects. You can change this by adding your own title in the text field under Portfolio Section Title. Portfolio Argent takes advantage of the Portfolio feature on WordPress.com, offering unique layouts and organization for your portfolio projects. To add a project, go to Portfolio → Add New in your WP Admin dashboard. Projects You can include a full-width image carousel in your projects. Argent will take the first gallery in your project and turn it into a carousel automatically. To set it up, follow these steps: Create a new Portfolio project. Insert an image gallery into the project’s post editor. The position of a gallery inside the project doesn’t matter; the first gallery will always be displayed directly below the project title. Continue adding content to your project — you can add more images, pull quotes, videos etc. Be sure to add a featured image to your projects. Although it won’t be displayed in single project view, it’s used on the portfolio archives page (see below). Save or publish your project.Could you tell us if any of these steps are causing you trouble?
Thanks! We’ll do our best to get this resolved for you!

ugh! sorry for the horizontal scroll on those directions! Didn’t realize it would look so ugly in that format. I also put one section in bold which might be particularly helpful if you are trying to display more than three items.

Hi –
I am also having the same issue as terencevl.
I’ve taken all the steps he mentioned, as well as all the steps Jason has mentioned, and I still haven’t been able to get the portfolio to display on my front page.
Here’s the site with the issue: https://genevafirst2015.wordpress.com/
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi there!
It could be a few things but I’m going to take a guess. Let me know if the following doesn’t work:
1. In the WP Admin view (“classic view”), select “Pages”. Select the page that you have for the home page (looks like it’s your “About” page).
2. Change the template to “Front Page”Let me know if that doesn’t work—I’ve got a few other ideas.
Kind regards,
JasonPS: I love Geneva and can’t wait to see your site finished!

Hi Jason –
Thanks a million for the prompt response!
I followed your suggestion and it seems that I still have the same issue. However, clicking on the ‘About’ link brings up the page that I’d like to see on the home page, so I’m guessing that another tweak or two will get the site where I’d like it to be.
Thanks again, and I love Geneva, too!
Best,

Jason –
