Argent theme: quotation marks not visible

    I’m creating a website for my new business using the Argent theme (site not visible yet). I wonder why the quotation marks are not showing on preview? I can see the quotation marks on the visual draft, but not on preview. Any idea what might cause this?

    Once the quotation marks are showing, could someone help me also with the css to change the color of them?

    Thanks for your reply timethief. I checked my browser settings and they are fine. Everything else is working on preview, only the quotation marks are missing! :)

    livenowdreamlater – as a staff member, I can see private sites. Could you please provide a link to your site running Argent that’s having this issue? Thanks.

    Can you clarify where the quotation marks are not showing – in your site title, tagline, or body of a post?

    When you say they aren’t showing “in preview” can you clarify whether you’re referring to the preview pane in the Customizer, a full page/post preview from the WP Admin editor, or a full page/post preview from within the new editor with the blue background? Thanks!

    Hi kathrynwp and thanks for replying! :)

    My private site where I use the Argent theme is http://www.sandria.fi.

    I have used quotations for example on my static front page and a portfolio project called ‘Referenssit’ (project folder can be found on static front page). I haven’t written any actual posts yet, just working on portfolio projects and pages.

    I always modify posts and pages in ‘the old editor’, as I still find the new editor nothing but confusing! :) When I am drafting the page or project content, I can see the quotation marks appearing on the visual editor, but when I click ‘preview’ or just go to view the page on http://www.sandria.fi I can not see the quotation marks.

    I have edited the css for quotation text (font is now purple and a little bit smaller), but the quotation marks weren’t appearing even before editing the code.

    I don’t see any quote marks on your homepage text, when viewing it in the WP Admin editor: https://cloudup.com/ca6NDY79P1c

    It would be super helpful for me to see exactly where you’re not seeing the quote marks – could you please upload a screenshot of it so I can take a look and be sure I’m looking at the right piece of content.

    I was able to see the quotation marks even in your screenshot! :)

    If you look at the argent theme here: https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/argent/ or any other blog using this theme, in all quotation texts you can see those quotation marks in light grey colour right at the start of the quotation. But not on mine. (Only in draft in the visual editor).

    Do you know now what I mean? :) Maybe this was a bit difficult to explain for a non-native English speaker! :D

    Oh, thank you for that screenshot – now I understand what you’re looking at! I didn’t realize you were referring to the CSS background image of quotation marks on blockquote text, and not actual quotation marks in the text. Now that I understand what the issue is, I’m going to investigate further – I’ll keep you posted here!

    Haha, yeah, sorry about that. Should have realized to do screenshot right away to explain, as I didn’t know the correct term for this kind of quotation mark! :D

    We’ve found the culprit in the way the theme is handling custom colours and will get it fixed up. We’ll let you know here when it’s done.

    This glitch should now be fixed and your blockquote quote mark is now appearing on the front end of the site!
