Argghh – picture problems – size mainly

  • Unknown's avatar

Why why why do my pictures end up wierd sizes in my blog? One that are portrait format need to be scrolled though, yet if I choose “medium” for size they are way way too small. So so frustrating. Also, how can I delete a picture once I’ve added to a draft post? I seem to ahve to trash the whole post just to get rid of the pictures. ANy ideas suggestions comments will be much appreciated.

You can change the default widths for the thumbnail, medium and large options in Settings>Media.

To delete an already inserted image, you click on it in the visual editor and click the delete icon.

To change the displayed size of an already inserted image, you click on it in the visual editor and click the edit icon.

But for best results you should downsize copies of your images in an image editing application to a resolution of 72 (which is what all browsers display) and the pixel width you prefer; maximum for the theme you’re using is 640px. By uploading huge high-resolution files you’re only wasting your storage space and increasing the loading time of your blog pages, plus you get poorer quality because images downsized by WP lose some color and sharpness.

Sorry, forgot one phrase above: I mean downsize copies of your images as explained, and upload and insert those copies instead of the huge originals.

Does anyone know what to do about this problem?

I have always been able to insert a picture into my blog. Recently what happens is that the picture appears in the editing version but disappears when the blog is posted. Contact (email visible only to moderators and staff) if you have an answer. Thanks loads.
