Arrow is missing on Search field

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi

    I recently moved my Search field to just above the Nav Bar. However when I input text into this field, the arrow on the far right gets cut off slightly. It looks like it is a question of adjusting the size of the field but I am not sure what I am doing so any help appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Dawn

    That effect is probably dependent upon the size of the monitor of the visitor, and it’s certainly theme dependent. It’s difficult to understand and interpret precisely the effect you’re describing since your site is private, and we don’t know what theme you are using.

    Hi, I’m seeing this in Safari, but not seeing the little arrow icon at all in Firefox. Try adding the following CSS and see if this does the trick.

    input[type="search"] {
    	padding-right: 0
    }

    well it works… but it turns out it’s not an arrow but a little cross. When I hover over the cross a line of text says: search for… but if you click on the cross it deletes the search. I’m guessing there should have been an arrow or magnifying glass search icon there which has somehow got messed up in the move…. ?

    If you look at the top of the sidebar on the Blog page in Sela, there is no arrow, magnifying glass, or the circle with the X in it. In general buttons to initiate a search on the web are disappearing pretty quickly. Most people just type in what they want and hit the return/enter key to initiate the search. I’m not sure why the little X icon appeared after you moved the search widget.
