Article Directory Plugin?

    Dear WordPress Gods,

    I’m considering adding a searchable directory of articles from sites related to my own. I need a few fields like article title, article link, article summary, site name. A pretty simple database.

    I’m getting a tad confused searching Google and plugin sites etc. I thought you might have a few quick off the top of your head suggestions on how I could add such a feature to my site.

    Do you know that your premium plan gives you access to live chat and private email support at https://wordpress.com/help/contact?

    We don’t have any feature built into WordPress.com that lets you list posts from other sites, and I don’t know of any plugins that can do that either – for something like this to work you’d need to plug into an existing database that indexes posts from across different sites, and I don’t know that anything like that exists for public use.

    We do have an index like that on WordPress.com that powers our suggested posts feature in the Reader, but we don’t offer access to that data outside of the Reader, and it’s not possible to embed that feature into your site – the built-in Related Posts feature on WordPress.com only shows related posts from your own site.

    In case someone else is considering something like this, I did find this plug-in.

    Participants Database

    It looks like it lets you create your own custom database with your own fields etc. Happy users, recently updated, apparently free, etc.

    I’d have to upgrade to Business Plan to use this, and of course manually enter all the data.

    Sort of. That form looks like it launches a chat box. Yes? How would I access email support? Does that system plug me in to basically the same help gurus I’d find here? Thanks.

    Yes, you’d be connected to a Happiness Engineer via chat. If you prefer to keep in touch via email, you can just say that you’d prefer that and someone will reach out via email instead :)
    You’ll also be routed directly to email on weekends.

    Here, on the public forums, you may not always get help from the WordPress.com staff and if you do, you’ll have to wait longer than reaching directly from https://wordpress.com/help/contact.
