Aruba hosting wordpress

    Hi
I am trying to find out how the new ‘Aruba Hosting WordPress’ works. I would pay 25 Euro per year to Aruba to host my domain name but, would I still then have to upgrade to a wordpress plan from the free plan in order to then have my site shown without adverts?
    Thank you for any help

  • Hi there,

    I see you are confusing self-hosted WordPress.ORG with WordPress.COM.
To learn more about the differences between WordPress.org and WordPress.com you can check out the support page here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

With the self-hosted .ORG version, as it would be the case with Aruba hosting, you pay for domain and hosting and get full control and full responsibility for your own site. It’s more technically challenging option,
but you don’t pay for using WordPress, as it is open source software.

If you use WordPress.COM on the other hand, with the free version your options of how much you can customize your website are limited, but it is a good thing in my experience – it is way too easy to mess up the entire website with custom solutions.

As your business grows, so does your experience with WordPress platform. You might need more freedom in terms of customization so you can choose one of the paid plans later on:

Also one of the best things about WordPress.COM is amazing support of Happiness Engineers.

  • And if you would like to have a domain (website hosted on WordPress.COM) without .WordPress part in it (for example teresataiko.com) – please check this: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/

  • Regarding your first question – if you decide to go with Zoho.com I would highly recommend spending a few additional minutes to add SPF and DKIM to DNS records.

That’s just four lines of text that Zoho will provide, and this will significantly decrease the chance of emails sent from your brand new email address landing to spam folder.

The procedure might sound complicated, but it is not – those are just two TXT type of records you will have to add, on top of MX that you added previously.
    https://www.zoho.eu/campaigns/help/setup-spf-dkim.html

SPF may look like this in your WordPress.com admin area, click “domains”,
“name servers and DNS”, “DNS records”:

    Type: TXT
    Name: [leave it blank]
    Text: v=spf1 include:zoho.eu ~all

    DKIM:
    Type: TXT
    Name: zoho._domainkey
    Value: v=DKIM1; k=rsa; p=MIGfMA0GCSqGSIb3DQEBAQUAA4GNADCBiQKBgQCXeLy2yvEdp624MIWAE8FuxmGT0ofPFuxvlV54XTOo4XvSFGAcujxE3MOFQCYESH…….

If you will have troubles setting up any of this (whether it’s the email at Zoho, DKIM or SPF, or just about anything else) – please let me know, I will try to help you out :)
