    ns3.wordpress.com

Aruba tell me that if i change the name server my mail at aruba will stop working.
Can you help me to maintain at the same time the wordpress dns and the mail working at aruba?

It seems you don’t have the domain mapping upgrade yet. You can follow the steps in this guide on how to map an existing domain to your WordPress.com blog:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Please let us know if you need any further assistance!

Yes, I don’t have the domain mapping upgrade yet because if i follow the steps in the guide:
“Step 1: First, you will need to update your domain’s “name servers” to the following:
    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM”
my aruba’s mail will stop working!
    Someone know another option?

I see. You can first purchase the domain mapping upgrade, then I can manually add your e-mails MX record to your domain. After that you can switch the nameserver records so you e-mail will work right after the nameservers are propagated.

    What’s your MX e-mail record?

    Thank you kardotim,
So, I have to follow this steps:
    1. Ask to aruba to change the nameserver
    2. Ask to aruba what’s my e-mail MX record
    3. Purchase the domain mapping upgrade
    4. Change the MX record with your kindly help

    that’s right?

I have another uncertainity: i need just the MX record or also A record and/or a CNAME record?

The steps need to be as follows:

    1. Ask Aruba what your e-mail MX record is, or the A or CNAME record. Basically any record needed to make e-mail work.
    2. Purchase the domain mapping upgrade at https://energia158a.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains
    3. Change the MX record with my help :)
    4. Ask Aruba to change the nameserver

Aruba told me that MX record, A record and Cname are confidential information.

They add that wordpress will have this information (Mx record, A record and Cname) since I am moving to wordpress. This seems reasonable to me.

So now I am stucked. What do you suggest to do?

    Thanks for your help, Laura

Your domain won’t be registered at WordPress.com, it will only be mapped to your WordPress.com blog.

These are the current MX and A records on your domain:

    https://www.whatsmydns.net/#A/158a.it
    https://www.whatsmydns.net/#MX/158a.it

I think we can use those to keep your e-mail working. Let me know once you’ve purchased the domain mapping upgrade and I’ll set the records for you.

ok i will do it right now.
    Two more questions:
    1) When a user types “www.158a.it” will he be redirected to energia158a.wordpress.com or the address bar will keep the original address (www.158a.it)?
    2) I will buy the DNS from the provider Aruba. Will all my pages (soon on wordpress) be indexed by Google or Google will index only the home page?

    Thanks again Laura

The address will become 158a.it. http://www.158a.it, will always be redirected to 158a.it, so you can feel free to use either version on your business cards or elsewhere. Redirecting the first version of your URL to the second version helps to ensure that search engines index your site properly.

WordPress.com automatically sends notifications to Google with every post and page update. However, search engines can take 4 to 6 weeks (or more) to add any new sites.

For more information about WordPress.com and search engines, please see this guide:

    Thank you kardotim!!
    Just another doubt:
The following steps are: 1. Purchase the domain mapping upgrade; 2. Change the MX record (with your help ;) ); 3. Ask Aruba to change the nameserver.

But the wordpress’s support suggest “before mapping your domain, update yourname server entries”

It’s better that I follow your steps for the email?

  • Unknown's avatar

    That’s correct! :)

In this case it’s not necessary to update the nameserver records before purchasing the domain mapping.

  • Unknown's avatar

    I purchased the domain mapping.
Can you kindly help to change the MX record?

  • Unknown's avatar

I’ve just set the MX record for you at https://energia158a.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains&action=dnsedit&domain=158a.it

Your can now change the nameservers:
    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
