As a freelancer how do I subscribe on behalf of the client
-
Hi,
I want to provide a very smooth experience to my client so he gets his site with minimal effort. However, I would like him to be the site owner so he retains autonomy once the site is shipped.Does anyone have a workflow where they do everything for the client (plan selection, site setup, etc…) but still manage to make him site owner and pay the bill?
Ideas: do everything via a new email address that is given to the client afterwards, ask for deposit and pay first month with single use credit card…

Hi there!
There are two ways you can go about this:
- The client purchases a plan using his WordPress.com account and invites you as an administrator so you have full access to build and edit the site as needed. When the site is ready, you can continue to remain as an administrator for maintenance and support if needed or simply leave the site. The owner can also remove you from the site when ready.
- You create the site and purchase a plan using your WordPress.com account. You will need to use your own card or get card details from your client (if they can give you single-use card details, that is). When the site is ready, or anytime before it, you invite the client as an administrator. Finally, when you’re ready to completely hand it over, you transfer the site and domain to the client’s account and contact us to transfer the subscriptions to his account as well.
The links above have all the details you need to transfer the site and domain. Have you decided on a WordPress.com plan for the site yet? If not, feel free to tell us more about the client’s requirements, and we’ll be happy to suggest a plan for you. You can upgrade using the link below as well.
Feel free to let us know if you have more questions.
