Aside & Quote Formats show up as Standard posts

Hi there, I’m using the Twenty Fourteen theme. When I post stuff using either Quote or Aside formats, they still show up in the main content area as a standard post. They do also show up as “aside” and “quote” formats (I’m using the Ephemera widget in the sidebar).

I’m wondering if there is a way for “aside” posts to show up only on the sidebar of my blog? Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The theme description is found here http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/twentyfourteen/ Note that we cannot access any templates and edit the way any theme here is designed to function.

If you have a theme that supports post formats, you can spice up your blog’s front page by making the different types of content you share visually distinct from one another, like this …

Hmm, thank you, but that still doesn’t resolve my query.
I mean, I thought the whole point of “aside posts” is that they’re short & sweet and so only shows up in the sidebar in aside formats?
Why would it also show up in a standard format?

  • Hi there!

Different themes have different ways of treating different Post Formats – some don’t do anything, some change the look of the Post for all Post Formats and some only change it for a few.

(More information on Post Formats can be found here:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-formats/)

As you say TwentyFourteen does change the look of a Post based on the Format selected, but as far as I know, no theme adds Asides to the sidebar as they’re just a different type of Post so appear in the standard list of Posts (feel free to prove me wrong!).

Of course the whole point is so they can look different to each other, but they still appear in the list of Posts.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.
