ask question I have a domain name from a host pointed here that I forgot all about. I started another blog with same name and want to either point the domain to the new blog or get into the old, I don’t have email for here. Do I cancel point from host and repoint it to new blog?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • I can help you with that. Can you be more specific about the exact URLs?

Hello, sorry for the sparse info, I was having trouble getting my full question to submit. Last year I created a wordpress site with my domain name I bought from a host company-fearlessingod.com.. This year I created another website with the same name fearlessingod.wordpress.com BECAUSE I had forgotten all about already owning and creating a wordpress site until I received a renewal notice from my host company. But I do not remember the password nor email to get into my original wordpress site of my domain name. And of course wordpress says that that domain name is taken,,,yes by me. How can I get into use the wordpress site with my own domain name? Thank you very much!

  • So, it sounds like you have an old WordPress.com user account that you need to gain access to. Have you tried inputting old or infrequently used email addresses into our lost password system?

Hello, yes I have…I’ve gone through many email accounts (there is a good reason) and out of all of them that I’ve tried, non go to that site. fearlessingod.com

  • Hi there,

If the password reset doesn’t work, you’ll need to submit the account recovery form:

    https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery

On that form you need to provide proof of ownership of the site. The PayPal transaction ID of the upgrade when you connected the domain can be used for that. If you no longer have the receipt you can obtain that transaction ID directly from PayPal:

    Retrieving a PayPal Transaction ID

Once we’ve verified the information you provide in the form someone will be in touch via email to help you gain access to the account.

    Hello,
The only proof I have is my from my domain host.
There is no paypal transaction for the domain-I have my domain at a host and pointed it to wordpress. If I unpoint the domain and then repoint it to a wordpress I have access too will that work? And I don’t have the wordpress email where my domain is located -so I can’t use the recovery tool because I don’t know the email. The Host company is the only record proof that I own that domain name.

  • You bought a domain mapping upgrade to connect your domain, fearlessingod.com, to a WordPress.com site. The payment for that domain mapping upgrade was processed by PayPal – all upgrade purchases from WordPress.com are.

If you don’t have access to the email address you used for that account, the PayPal transaction ID for that domain mapping upgrade is the only proof of ownership of the account that we can accept. You can obtain the transaction ID directly from PayPal by following the instructions in the support document I linked to in my previous reply.

Ok, I just sent the one id# I found on paypal transaction from July 2015. I hope this is the right one! Thank You!

  • Do you mean you sent the account recovery form? I don’t see it in your account history, so did you use a different email address on the form?

Someone should reply to you via email soon, but if you will give me the email address you specified on the form I’ll also be happy to follow up for you.
