Askimet for Contact Form and removing all comments boxes.

  I am using the TwentyTwelve theme.

  I am getting conflicting information about spam filtering. Do I need to register and install a plugin for Askimet to work (e.g. I am using a contact form) or is it built-in?

  Is it possible to remove all leave a reply comment box from all pages Including the homepage)? I have tried unticking relevant boxes under settings and it doesn’t work…
