Askimet numbers increase but shows no new spam
-
-
My caught spam now numbers 18?!? Still nothing in the queue.
I think i can safely say that the Akismet caught number is unrelated to the number of spam actually caught. Not sure what it is related to, though.
-
WHat’s weird is that sometimes it shows me the spam, sometimes it doesn;t. My counts are always accurate, though, relative to how much spam there is in the queue.
-
Akismet has now caught 36 spam, and 24 are in the queue. Here’s the breakdown by date of the spam posts, in case you’re interested:
Mar 28 – 1
Mar 29 – 1
Mar 30 – 2
Mar 31 – 7
Apr 1 – 13
They are indeed all spam. I’m not going to delete any right now. -
I just wish some of these colleges would do something about their spam issues. I’m seeing a lot more *.edu’s in there and it seems like it’s the same ones over and over again.
-
I’m having the problem where I know for sure that someone has been posting comments to my blog and they only show up a couple or so days later in the spam section, or simply not even being shown for me to “not spam” and being directly deleted as I see the “spam caught” number increasing.
-
Forgot to add that I’m also seeing my “spam caught” numbers increase before I’ve had a chance to check / moderate… and I check every day let alone every 14 – 15 days.
-
Just found someone else with the Askimet problem – “Akismet Spam Filter Bug” at

@solentdreams
Have you sent in a feedback to staff so they know that your blog is one of the blogs that are affected? (The feedback button is on the top right hand corner of any of your blog pages.) -
Gotta admit that I’m curious as to what’s going on with Akismet as well. I’ve been having spam show up but it’ll show up on one blog one day but another on the next day. Rather weird.
-
I’m loving the new Search Spam feature. I have two commenters who consistently get put in Spam because they’re always dropping multiple links in there, so now I just search by name and un-spam them.
If you have some people who get spammed regularly, you can try this.
-
In case anyone’s wondering what happened with all those support emails i sent to Akismet: basically nothing except i see spam sometimes. I got no response telling me anything, unlike when i submit support requests to wordpress.
-
Yep, I’ve left feedback too.
I’ve actually witnessed someone post a comment to my blog… just to convince me that it’s not a problem with them… and nope… their comment doesn’t show up… might do in a couple of days or so :-( …. maybe in the “caught spam” section… I say “maybe”… then again it might just be deleted straight away… as like I say… the “spam caught” tally before I’ve had a chance to check / moderate… and I check every day let alone every 14 – 15 days.
… er… can’t we just have the option of being turning off Askimet?
-
I also just sent a feedback to Askimet outlining the problem… hopefully my feedback won’t be deleted as spam before the people at Askimet can read it :-)
-
If you really want to live without Akismet, you should probably find hosting and upload a new blog using WordPress.org software into your webspace. I get at least one spam for every legitimate hit on my site every day, and don’t want the option to turn it off. I just want it to show me my spam and allow me to pick through it if I so choose. Which it now appears to do, at least for me.
-
Good point… it does do it’s job when it’s working properly… I myself wouldn’t want to turn it off… but like you say, “I just want it to show me my spam and allow me to pick through it if I so choose…”
Not sure yet if it’s working right for me yet.
-
It does seem to be working for me now but not for others. If you’ve Feedbacked the WP team and Akismet, I’m not sure what else there is to do. Wish I could help.
-
Damn I love this Wrodpress blog service :-)
The help and support from not only its members but also from the WordPress staff is such a deserved refelection of the quality and popularity of WordPress. It’s got such a great community feeling about it all.
Regards to all and have a great weekend everyone.

I noticed something yesterday. If you have mulitple blogs, the reason why you’re not seeing spam on all of them is if you click on the Delete All button, it does delete all fo the spam. From all of your blogs, not just the one that you’re looking at.
Hope this helps,
