askimet spam count keeps resetting

  Has anyone else noticed that the counter for Askimet is displaying random numbers for the total spam blocked?
  A month ago I was at over 80K spam blocked, this morning it was around 175, and now it’s 7!!

  I’m talking about the number displayed in the “askimet has protected you from ___ spam comments aready.

  Andy has said something about there being an issue with the spam numbers reported by Akismet lately. I would assume that they’re tinkering and trying to make them more realistic.

  well, it just went up by 7 spam to 14–and there were no comments flagged as spam.
  I think it’s just even more borked than before :(

  I’ve had the “numbers” problem with Akismet ever since I started blogging here. I figure AutoMATTic simply doesn’t like me.

  As an experiment, I turned off the “delete spam on old posts” option for a day, and counted.
  Numbers still don’t match up.

  Mostly, I’m just curious why it reset to zero, and started over :)

  If we actually had Matt look in, I’ll mark this resolved, since it can’t go any higher than that!
