Askimet spam filter wisking away comments before my review

Hello,
There have been several comments that Askimet has been flagging and storing away before I have the opportunity to review. A couple of my friends have tried to comment on my blog, and I have not been notified of their comments. I see this message on my dashboard:
Akismet has protected your site from 45 spam comments already.
There’s nothing in your spam queue at the moment.That number of spam comments continues to climb, but without my prior review, and I can’t see these comments. Is this an Askimet glitch, or is there some way I can just turn Askimet off?

Akismet actually won’t display duplicate spam comments, or spam comments that have been reported by a large number of users. Also, keep in mind that spam comments are routinely deleted when they’re about two weeks old.
Do your friends see any errors when they post their comments?

I check my WordPress Dashboard almost every day, and Askimet continues to raise my spam number without any review.
No, my friends don’t see errors– they get a message saying it’s been sent to me for approval, but then I don’t see anything.

If it has been sent for approval, that means that it should be awaiting moderation. If it was automatically mark as spam, they would see nothing.
Can you ask for a screenshot the next time one of your friends posts a comments?
