Asking for a client

    Dear WordPress,

I am an attorney in New York. My client hired a company who created a wordpress.com site for her. The URL is https://xxxxxxxx.wordpress.com.

They have been uncooperative in taking making any modifications to the site, letting us make modifications to the site, or taking the site down. Taking legal action against them is expensive and a last resort. She doesn’t know what logon they used.

Is there anything that wordpress.com can do to help? We’re hoping that legal action won’t be necessary with the thought that it has some experience dealing with this type of situation. I am happy to put my client in touch with wordpress.com for them to have direct communications with her.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi ezaidins,

She doesn’t know what logon they used.

If the site was created through someone else’s WordPress.com account, this something your client will need to resolve with the person who created it — we are unable to transfer ownership of a site or make changes without the owners permission.

We have an account recovery form but that should only be used in cases where someone has lost access to their own WordPress.com account — not to gain access to an account owned by someone else.
