Assessing the product

I’m currently on Shopify. Looking for alternatives because I hate the company and NEED to find a cheaper way to host my store.

I need a clear and concise breakdown for what I am actually paying for with this $70/mo plan. I’m currently on Shopify Basic after recently downgrading. So this plan is more money if I do not consider additional fees for apps.

Looking through your app store, it seems as though there is a lot of missing functionality that would quickly escalate the cost, including carrier calculated prices. Blows me away this basic feature is always a bloody add-on expense.

Anyway, I’m a bit baffled what I’d actually be paying for and looking for a clear break down.

    WP.com: Yes
    Jetpack: No
    Correct account: Yes

If you want to set up a Business on the wordpress.com platform. To do so you must buy our Business or eCommerce Plan, https://wordpress.com/pricing/

  • Hi there,

We’re not familiar enough with Shopify’s offering to offer a point-by-point comparison, but it sounds like you are looking at our eCommerce Plan, which is the only plan we offer at $70/mo USD. We have a more concise breakdown of this plan and what it includes here: https://wordpress.com/support/plan-features/ecommerce-plan/

Looking through your app store, it seems as though there is a lot of missing functionality that would quickly escalate the cost, including carrier calculated prices.

Can you tell us a bit more about the specific functionality that you are looking for? The ecommerce plan for example includes quite a few carrier options with automated shipping calculations, so we may be offering the functionality you need there. Is there a specific carrier(s) you are interested in using? Do you plan to sell domestically or do you plan to have international sales/shipping as well? If you can add any more info we’re happy to take a closer look.
