Assign child to different parent? and what happens to links?

    Hello:
    Is it possible to assign a child page to a different parent page? Can this be done simply by dragging the child over to the other parent?
    If a child can be assigned to another parent, what happens to any affected intra-site links? For example, if several pages in the site have links pointing to the child page being transferred, will the links in those other pages have to be updated manually? or will all of the affected links update automatically?

    Hi there,

    I do not see any “parent” or “child” pages on your site now, this is something you are still considering setting up?

    There is a specific setting that will give you a parent/child URL structure like:

    https://arborealis.ca/parent-a/child-page

    If you change that to

    https://arborealis.ca/parent-b/child-page

    then any links to the “parent-a” url will not redirect automatically. They will be broken. Because you have our WordPress.com Business Plan you do have the option to add a “redirection plugin” but this will add extra work for you. Are you thinking you will be changing the parent/child relationship of your pages fequently?

    Thank you very much for your replies, Jerry.
    As for the parent-child question, I am considering that and a number of other design decisions, and I appreciate your comments about the uses for the forum and live chat support.
