assistance required

I signed up with WordPress. After almost 2 days I could not figure out how to make a blog so I canceled and received a refund. I started over. I purchased/registered my domain name with Namecheap. I looked for a hosting site. I opted for the EasyWP hosting through Namecheap. But I have a problem. I started the blog but there is a ‘sample’ post showing. I trashed it but it is still showing. Also, please, once I get this fixed, what is the actual URL I should be giving to people so they can find the blog? If I use therealmgreene.com it is only showing the sample which is a theme. If I could delete the theme and start over, that might work but I don’t want to risk losing my domain name. Thank you for any help you can offer.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You need to note the differences between the two different WordPresses. If you have cancelled one upgrade or domain already it doesn’t mean you’ll find setting up a site somewhere else any easier. You still have a site here: https://therealmgreene.wordpress.com/ (which looks like a blog to me!) and this support forum can assist you with that but for assistance with your other site http://therealmgreene.com/ using the WordPress.org software you’ll have to ask your host if they have any setup instructions or register an account with: https://wordpress.org/support/

Please remember that we were not all born with the ability to do coding and to understand computer-speak. I am old and slow but eventually, I can learn – I am from a time when no one in my neighborhood had a television and very few families had a telephone – yep, old. Thank you in advance for having the patience to help me understand.

Maybe I am completely stupid. I paid for a WordPress account. I canceled and received a refund, so how can I still have an account here if I have not paid for it? This account that I still have, what can I do with it? Is it a hosting site? (Like I said, I am really stupid.)

When you say: “…but for assistance with your other site http://therealmgreene.com/ using the WordPress.org software you’ll have to ask your host if they have any setup instructions…”, that is something I do not understand. You say “using the WordPress.org software”, what does that mean?

I bought a domain name which is therealmgreene.com (without the WordPress in the name).

There is still something I am not understanding. What does a hosting site do for a person? Is the hosting site responsible to answer questions and supply support? I am too confused by all this. No matter which hosting site I look at they all seem to lead back to WordPress. Does it make any difference if WordPress is the hosting site? or if some other place is the hosting site? It doesn’t matter to me which one I use as long as I can understand how to make it work and as long as there is support.

The blog I started here on WordPress…I cannot get the images and text to be the correct size – the image is too large, the text is too small, can’t seem to control upper and lowercase text. When I watch the tutorials, they are no help as the speakers talk too fast and they are showing something on screen but do not allow a person’s eye time to follow where they are pointing. Is there a WordPress-for-Idiots-Guide somewhere?

I wanted to add a screenshot of what I see when I type therealmgreene.com/ into a search but I don’t see a way to upload an image here in this box.

Again, thanks for trying to help me.

I am probably older than you!
    You started off saying:

I signed up with WordPress. After almost 2 days I could not figure out how to make a blog so I canceled and received a refund.

Where did you sign up and receive a refund? Here at WordPress.com? At WordPress.com you can make a blog for free. You still have a free site that you can access when you are logged in to this account: https://therealmgreene.wordpress.com/ You have already put some posts on it and can continue to do so. You can get support for it here.
But you say you have bought a site somewhere else. There will be different log in details for that as it is not at WordPress.com so you can’t get support for it here.
PS: Tutorials for WordPress.com (here) and WordPress.org (your other site) can be quite different.Make sure you are reading the right ones for whichever site you are working on.
Personally I find WordPress.com far easier to use than the WordPress.org software you will be presented with elsewhere. Carefully read this link again:

I keep trying to make myself understood. I received a refund. Whatever I got from WordPress was not free. I don’t really care right now as I have already received a refund. I want to make the blog go away. I tried twice but WordPress keeps telling me that I still have a site, that I still have a blog, and that I can continue to use it…oh, and I can continue to get support.

The point is, I want to make it go away.

I only need one blog. I have a blog at another hosting site. Both blogs have a similar name and I need the first one to go away so people don’t get confused by the similarity in the names.

I’m sure that many people find making a blog easy but for me it is quite difficult. Yes, I know the difference between WP.org and WP.com and when I signed up for the newer blog I ended up with something called EasyWP…sheesh.

I will continue to try to make the first blog go away.

    Hi therealmgreene,

I want to make the blog go away. I tried twice but WordPress keeps telling me that I still have a site

I replied to the first thread you created but I’ll paste the contents of my reply here:

I had a WordPress blog but I canceled and received a refund. But WP kept my blog up.

I see you purchased a plan for therealmgreene.wordpress.com which has since been cancelled and refunded. This site has been deleted.

You have a second site with the address therealmgreenecom.wordpress.com (note the extra “com”) which is still active.

I bought a domain name (elsewhere, without the WordPress added to the URL) so I deleted the original WP blog. All of a sudden, my own domain is not accessible.

That’s correct, therealmgreene.wordpress.com has been deleted but therealmgreenecom.wordpress.com is still active.

Do you want to use therealmgreene.com as the custom domain for the remaining site? By that, I mean visitors to your site will see therealmgreene.com in their browser’s address bar instead of therealmgreenecom.wordpress.com.

I’m going to close the other thread but you can continue to reply here.
