Assistance with css custom design.

I have a custom design package. I have designed the code/what I want myself and need to put in a number of images. The code that I want to use on my site uses a gallery slider.

I have uploaded the css/html code into the css window but it is not coming out right.

    Please advise if possible.

You can’t add functionality to a WordPress.com by theme hacking. You can only alter the look of the blog through CSS, not the way it works, eg adding a gallery slider.

Some people make a mistake between the way theme development for WP.org works for the way it works on WP.com. It’s far more limited here.

There is also no staff support for CSS changes and the main volunteer who helped with CSS has left, so you are pretty much on your own for this.

You can, of course, hire someone, but the free assistance here is limited.

Staff, in particular, @designsimply, are now providing help with CSS after they raised the price of the CSS upgrade (now known as Custom Design, which also includes Typekit custom fonts) to $30.

You will just have to be patient waiting for help with the CSS.

You can add HTML to a post or page, and inline styles may work or you may be able to move any separate styling to the Appearance → Custom Design → CSS page, but most likely what’s happening is that you have some additional code that is either not allowed or that the Custom Design editor isn’t equipped to handle yet.

Could you post your code in a reply here so we can take a look? It works best if you post code inside two backtick ( ` ) characters.

I thought of a possible alternative as well. If you’re looking for sliders, here are the WordPress.com themes that have post sliders and I thought it might be of interest to you to see themes with sliders built into them: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/post-slider/
